The Vigna Corallo Estate directly overlooks the Baia dei Turchi, Otranto.
In 1480 the Turks landed on this beach and put the city of Otranto to the sword, killing 800 men who refused to recant the Christian religion. Pope Bergoglio in 2014 proclaimed these 800 martyrs ‘saints’. Their relics are preserved in the cathedral of the wonderful city of Otranto, that is just minutes away by car from the Estate.
The surroundings, especially the beautiful localities of Castro, Santa Cesarea, the Alimini lakes, and the city of Lecce are worth visiting.
